HUMANITY STANDS AT THE PRECIPICE
Confronted with an imminent technological revolution and the surging wave of AI accelerationism, humanity stands at the precipice, torn between anticipation and apprehension. Within my artistic realm, I delve into a speculative future where the remnants of our civilization are unearthed, revealing cryptic "artworks" as artifacts of a bygone era.
INSPIRED BY PAUL RUBENS
Inspired by the opulent figures in Paul Rubens's paintings, particularly the voluptuous portrayal of women, I position these corporeal forms within surreal landscapes – whether enshrouded in the depths of a black hole or suspended in an otherworldly chemical solution. Stripped of familiarity and plunged into an unrecognizable reality, these figures exist in a liminal space, where desire and fear intertwine, accentuating our vulnerability and unyielding yearning.
In the relentless pursuit of technological progress, humanity hurtles towards an uncharted and uncontrollable dimension every day. This ceaseless quest unravels our own insignificance and helplessness, a recurring theme embedded in my work.
PLEASE DON'T READ THEM THE TEXT AND STICKERS
Text and stickers, seemingly inconspicuous, function as additional layers of expression, akin to unconventional brush strokes and colours. Integrated with my chosen mediums – from acrylics emulating the fluidity of watercolours to the raw energy of spray paint, markers, and the juxtaposition of scrap paper and resin – they create a delicate equilibrium between the vivid allure of chemical pigments and nuanced tonal variations reminiscent of classical paintings.
Ultimately, my art serves as a reflection on the human condition amidst an accelerating technological landscape – a fusion of classical beauty and contemporary chaos, contemplating our place within an ever-evolving, intricate narrative.
