CYVYN: GET INSPIRED IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING
A SCHOOL OF CONTEMPORARY EXPRESSION
Over the past 15 years, I've been at the forefront of contemporary art education. The journey began with establishing an art school, where the primary aim was not only to teach techniques but to instill a profound understanding of contemporary art in the minds of aspiring young artists.
BREAKING BINARY BARRIERS
THE UNVEILING CANVAS OF FREEDOM
NAVIGATING THE CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE
As I guided hundreds of students to prestigious art universities, a realization dawned on me – contemporary art had undergone a transformation. Once a realm of creativity, it succumbed to the influences of capitalism, turning genuine artists into profit-driven opportunists. The shift severed the art world's connection with the mass market that had sustained it for centuries.
ART EDUCATION: A DOUBLE-EDGED PALETTE
ART AS INVESTMENT, ART AS EXPRESSION
THE CLASSROOM AS MY CANVAS
Educating young artists led me to grapple with the paradox of contemporary art. While successfully guiding students, I couldn't ignore the fact that art had become a financial tool. The pursuit of success had distorted its true essence, turning the once free-spirited artists into cautious speculators.
Contemporary art, now synonymous with financial risk and inflated prices, had become a commodity. As an art educator, I was challenged to balance the purity of artistic expression with the practical advantages needed for success in this competitive world. The dichotomy of art as investment and art as expression became a central theme in my educational philosophy.
Running an art school not only shielded me from financial concerns but became a space for personal exploration. Balancing the purity of art with its practical advantages in career choices became a delicate dance. The intersection of art and technology emerged as a breakthrough, challenging the binary opposition between the two.
The success stories of students who seamlessly integrate art with technology have fueled my confidence in the value of art once again. Witnessing the harmonious intersection of art and technology blurred the once-rigid boundaries between the two worlds. It was a revelation that opened new possibilities, granting young artists a unique career advantage.
Contemporary art, despite its pitfalls, continues to be a powerful teacher. It urges me to push boundaries—of media, ideology, mode, time, and space. This constant pushing expanded my thinking, allowing me to transcend physical limitations and conventional constraints. The freedom discovered within these boundaries continues to nourish my ongoing artistic journey.
As I reflect on my journey as a painter and educator, I embrace the evolving nature of contemporary art. It's a journey of questioning, learning, and breaking free from preconceived notions. The canvas of my life continues to unfold, and with each stroke, I strive to contribute to the ever-changing narrative of art.
